Ruth A. Aiken

Felton - Ruth A. Aiken passed away Sunday October 19, 2014 at Genesis Milford Center. Mrs. Aiken was born October 22, 1928 to the late Lester Bennett and Louise Parker Bennett. She was a native Delawarean and grew up in the Slaughter Beach area. She gave her heart and soul to the Lord at age 9 and rededicated at age 30. Mrs. Aiken grew up in the church, singing and playing for the Lord. She was a member of the Lebanon Wesleyan Church, where she played the piano. She also enjoyed playing the organ and accordion, leading the church choir, writing and producing the church bulletins and the Easter and Christmas programs for the church. Mrs. Aiken's enjoyed singing in our family. The Aiken Family, she had a great voice on earth and now she is in Heaven singing to the Lord. Mrs. Aikens loved to cook, camp and loved her family dearly. Her destination was Heaven and her greatest desire was for all her family and friends to know the Lord so we could all be reunited for eternity. She hated no one and prayed for all. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Clement Foster Aiken, 1999.; step daughter, Patricia Ann Aiken (Stubbs), 1970. She is survived by her children, Edward Aiken and his wife Kelley of Felton, Del., Elaine Long and her husband Michael of Calhoun, Tenn.; step children, Barbara Collins and her husband Bruce of Harrington, Del. and Buddy Aiken and his wife Ginger of Bowers Beach, Del.; sister, Elouise Kenton and her husband Nelson of Milford, Del.; grandchildren, Jackie Harwood, Victoria Long, Christa and Faith Aiken, Gregory Collins and his wife Sara, Patty Saathoft and her husband Matthew, Amanda, Chrissy, Lillian, Buddy Aiken, Porsha and Jordan Long; great grandchildren, Tyler and Abby Collins, Dustin, Dylan and Mackenzie Saathoft; nephews, Nelson, Ricky, and Marvin Kenton; niece, Rita Frost and best friend Betty Hichens. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Calvary Assembly of God Church, 1141 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 6 to 8, Wednesday evening Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
