St. Thomas More outscored Milford High by six points in the fourth quarter to rally for a 53-49 win over the Buccaneers in girls’ basketball on Tuesday.
The victory was the eighth in a row for the Ravens (9-1) while snapping a four-game winning streak for Milford(10-2).
Freshman Aniah Patterson tallied a game-high 23 points for St. Thomas More, which trailed 36-34 going into the final period.
Rajene Bowe had 16 points to pace Milford with Jonae Boone adding 11.
Sussex Central 60, Smyrna 56: Emily Truitt finished with 28 points, including five three-pointers, as the Golden Knights rallied for the Henlopen North win.
Central, which also got 12 points from Tatyana Jenkins, outscored the Eagles 40-26 in the second half.
Melena Credle had a team-high 24 points for Smyrna.
Sussex Tech 57, Polytech 34: The Ravens built a 13-point halftime advantage before picking up the North win.
Rukiya Davis (14 points) and Janiya Stevens (13) led Sussex Tech, which has now won four in a row.
Tamia Mathias’ 13 points led the Panthers.
Woodbridge 44, Indian River 32: Three players scored in double figures as the Raiders stretched their winning streak to six games in a row.
Altia Anderson (12 points), Lisa Eck (11) and Tykeya Nelson (10) led Woodbridge, which held a 36-23 advantage going into the fourth quarter.
IR freshman Julia Jordan posted her first double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Laurel 63, Seaford 21: Freshman Logan Handy poured in 42 points to pace the Bulldogs to the South victory.
Handy tallied 19 of Laurel’s 28 field goals, including three three-pointers.
Jazmine Snell led Seaford with 12 points.
St. Thomas More 76, McKean 52: The Ravens outscored the Highlanders, 44-24, in the second half as they improved to 10-2.
Aaron Scott had 22 points with Zion Cole (14), Corey Gordon (12) and Elias Revelle (11) also scoring in double figures for St. Thomas More. The Ravens sank 22-of-28 free throws.
Lake Forest 65, Delmar 58: The Spartans outscored the Wildcats, 26-15, in the second quarter before earning the South win.
Cameron Lewis netted 24 points with Dominique Griffith scoring 17 and Kobe Mumford adding 14.
Shyheim Mitchell led Delmar with 16 points weith DeJour Brown scoring 10. The Wildcats had seven players account for their nine three-pointers in the contest.
Woodbridge 60, Indian River 29: The Raiders outscored the Indians, 55-25, over the last three quarters to pull away to the Henlopen South win.
Cornell Corbin netted 18 points while Hassan Corbin had 11 for Woodbridge, which has now won eight games in a row.
IR’s Demetrius Jenkins had a team-high 10 points.
Delcastle 66, Cape Henlopen 57: The Cougars opened up a 31-18 halftime lead before holding off the Vikings.
Randy Rickards and Drew Mulcahy netted 17 points apiece for Cape with Jeremiah Smack adding 10.
Seaford 56, Laurel 43: The Blue Jays outscored the Bulldogs, 28-14, in the fourth quarter to pull out the Henlopen South victory.
Smyrna to hold alumni event Friday: Smyrna High will be celebrating the 20th year reunion of its 1996 dual meet state championship team with wrestlers, coaches, cheerleaders and managers. Also, as a result of the Eagles registering the program’s 600th victory last week, all past head coaches, individual state champions and wrestlers will be recognized at Smyrna’s 7 p.m. match.
There will be record books available, old scrapbooks and pictures along with t-shirts commemorating the 600th victory for sale.
