Ben Moore’s 57-yard rushing touchdown with 25 seconds left in the third quarter gave Lake Forest High a late lead and the Spartans held on for a 18-13 Henlopen Conference Southern Division win over Laurel High on Friday night.

Lake Forest remained unbeaten in Henlopen South play at 3-0 and moved to 4-2 overall. The Spartans have won 13 Henlopen South games in a row dating back to 2013.

Senior quarterback Noah Feague-Johnson scored Lake Forest’s other two touchdowns. His first was 23 yards in the first quarter to tie the game 6-6 and added a 2-yard rush for a score in the second quarter.

Shyheim Holden gave the Bulldogs (1-2 South. 2-4 overall) a 13-12 lead with a 10-yard rush in the third quarter before Moore’s decisive touchdown.

Laurel’s other touchdown came from a 25-yard pass by Perez Nichols to Howard Straughn.

Delaware Military 45, Polytech 14: Jason Rigby threw for a 25-yard touchdown and rushed for another but the Panthers fell on the road in an out of conference contest on Friday night,

Woodbridge 57, Seaford 0: Jawaun Rodriguez had a pair of punt return touchdowns to pace the Blue Raiders to the Henlopen South victory.

T.J. Kane led Woodbridge on defense with a 33-yard interception return for a score.

Archmere 41, Delmar 21: Kavon Trader scored two touchdowns in the Wildcat loss. The first was a 3-yard rush and the second was a 66-yard reception from quarterback James Adkins.

Isaac Austin also had a touchdown for Delmar with a rush from a yard out.

College soccer

DSU 2, Marist 0: Delaware State (6-8-1) took a 2-0 road triumph over Marist (5-9-1), the program’s fourth in a row, setting a school record for most consecutive victories.

The win also set a record for most road wins in a season (3), while closing within one victory of tying a school record most wins in a season overall.

The Hornets scored with just over three minutes gone by, as forward Taylor Addison (2) put it past Marist goalkeeper Ashley Houghton (1-7). The senior moved into second on DSU’s all-time list for most goals (8), in addition to fourth place for most career points (18).

Fellow senior Danielle Valente (2) made it 2-0 during the 23rd minute with a header goal. Valente’s strike set a new single-season mark for most goals (23).

The Hornets finished with nine shots, led by Addison’s three attempts. DSU’s Michele Lammers (6-8-1) collected five saves to secure her third straight shutout victory.

Delaware 3, Elon 0: Delaware scored two goals 84 seconds apart in the first half to take control and cruised to a key 3-0 CAA victory over Elon.

Delaware junior Natalie Zelenky tallied twice and freshman Riley Curtin added a goal as the Blue Hens kept their CAA Tournament hopes alive.

Zelenky tallied multiple goals for the fourth time and for the fifth time in her career. Her 11 goals is tied for the CAA lead.

College volleyball

Hofstra 3, Delaware 0: Delaware dropped a 3-0 decision to Hofstra at the Carpenter Sports Building.

Hofstra needed to go overtime in the first and third sets but outlasted the Blue Hens 27-25, 25-13, 30-28 as the Pride snapped a two-match losing streak while improving to 15-8 overall and 6-2 in the CAA. Delaware, which dropped its second straight, fell to 9-11 overall and 1-6 in league play.

Blue Hen senior outside hitter Katie Hillman led UD with 11 kills, while Chandler Bryant and Alexa Swann each contributed six kills and four blocks. Julia Anderson handed out 23 assists for the Blue Hens, while Ariel Shonk posted 16 digs.

Leticia Valente paced Hofstra with 16 kills and a .481 attack percentage, while Nanishka Perez and Veronika Kostova added 13 kills apiece. Hannah Klemm dished out 51 assists for the Pride, while Luisa Dominguez made a match-high 22 digs.

UMES 3, DSU 0: Delaware State’s Jasmine Jackson led all players in kills and teammate Ayanna Lee was tops in digs, but the Hornets fell to UMES 3-0 in a MEAC match. The scores were 25-18, 25-13 and 25-19.

Jackson recorded her ninth double-double, tallying 15 kills (.364 attack pct.) and 10 digs. Lee collected 13 digs to lead all players.
