CLAYTON - Rosie Areta Sudler- Ashley, a native of Delaware was born Sept. 19, 1939, in Clayton, Del. She was the daughter of the late Norman and Beatrice Sudler. Rosie affectionately known as Mother Ashley, Rose Bud, Rose, Rita, departed this life at the age of 75, on July 8, 2015, after a short illness at the Bay Health Medical Center, Dover, Del. Evangelist Ashley received her early childhood education in the public schools of Kenton and William Henry High School. Mother continued her education through the Enlighten Bible Institute, where she received her Master's in Biblical Studies. Evangelist Ashley met and married her beloved husband, Bishop James A. Ashley Sr. May 12, 1957 and made their home in Delaware. Mother also retired from International Playtex Products after completing 23 years of service. In 1973, Bishop James and Mother Ashley established The Greater Life Christian Church. Mother was known for her love and dedication to Christ, her husband, children and her entire family. She loved to praise God. Mother's favorite songs were "Walk around Heaven all day," and "When I see Jesus". Mother Ashley, will forever live in the hearts of her family and community of friends. She leaves to cherish her memory: Her loving devoted sons: Overseer, James Ashley Jr.(Lady Pippa), Elder, Tyrone Ashley Sr. (Darlene), Elder, Donald Ashley (Tina); loving daughter-in-law, Evangelist Mary Ashley; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mable Cousins, Lorraine Stevens, Deretha Ridgway; two brothers, Arnold Sudler (Shirley), and Norman Sudler. Mother Ashley was preceded in death by: her parents, Norman and Beatrice Sudler; husband, Bishop James Ashley Sr.; son, Lionel Ashley; grandson, Timothy Ashley; siblings, Leroy, Margaret, Catherine, and Shirley. Acknowledgements: Special nieces Darlene Jackson, Beverly Dickerson, and caregiver Kim Brown and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The funeral service is Saturday, July 18, 2015 with viewing 8 - 11 a.m. and service beginning at 11 a.m. at The Pentecostals of Dover, West Denny's Road, Dover.
