FREDERICA - Ronald "Ron" Jesse Nicholls, 58, of Frederica, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, surrounded by his family, at the Delaware Veterans Hospital Serenity Hospice Center, Elsmere. Ronnie was born in Louisville, Ky. He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Nicholls; and a sister, Sandra Nicholls. Ron was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the US Army as an SP4 during the Vietnam War. He and his wife, Joan, owned and operated the Felton Mobil, R& J Video and R&J II Propane Gas Business, in Felton, for 34 years. He enjoyed golfing, listening to music and spending time with his granddaughters. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Joan White Nicholls; and a daughter, Jessica Mease and her husband Christian; two grandchildren Summer and Autumn Mease, whom he totally adored. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret Nicholls; and four sisters, Barbara Wininger and husband Joe, Gail Kemp, Brenda Moore, and Terri and her husband Butch Harrington. Also a brother-in-law, Bob White and his wife Debbie. Also many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, May 7, at Barratts Chapel, Rt. 113, Frederica. Friends may call Friday, May 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Berry Short Funeral Home, Main Street, Felton. Interment will be Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
