Roland was born Aug. 29, 1942 in Bridgeville to the late Floyd and Kathleen Haymond Willey. He served in the National Guards for 23 years. Roland was a member of the Greenwood VFD volunteering as a Fire Police. He was proud that he completed his education and received his high school diploma in 1987 from James H. Groves. Roland enjoyed spending time with his family on the beach surf fishing, and getting caramel popcorn when ever he went to Rehoboth Beach. He loved going to church. His favorite baseball team was the Phillies, and he took turns rooting for either the Eagles or Redskins because part of his children were rooting for each team. He loved his family and was a great husband and father. He also held a special place for his boys (his dogs). He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandy Gray Willey; five children, Roland, Jr. and wife Susan of Greenwood, Kimberly McCreary and husband Steve of Elkton, Md., David and wife Debbie of Greenwood, Kathleen Willey and friend George Best of Dover, and Barbie Whaley and husband Kevin of Greenwood; 13 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a brother, Robert Gene Willey of Greenwood; and two sisters, June Yoder of Greenwood, and Deborah Sexton of Charlestown, Md.; and extended family. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 W. Market St, PO Box 502, Greenwood, DE 19950.
