BRIDGEVILLE - Roland H. Murphy III, "Murphy", of Bridgeville, passed away Dec. 5, 2011, at Beebe Medical Center. He was 54. Murphy was born April 24, 1957, in Milford, son of Roland H. Murphy Jr. and the late Ellen Murphy. He was an Electrician by trade and a skilled craftsman. In his youth he enjoyed training Standardbred race horses and following Sulky racing. Murphy's free time was filled with outdoor events such as running his beagles, Coon Hunting, Blacksmithing, and Trail riding/Camping with his favorite mule, "Hannah". He also enjoyed auctions and horse sales always adding to his collection. All of his friends will miss swapping stories and sharing memories under his shade tree. Murphy is survived by his father, Roland H. Murphy Jr. of Bridgeville; sister, Cindy Bunting and husband Ronald; three nephews, Matthew T. Bunting, Nicholas K. Bunting, and Luke W. Bunting; and two nieces, Bethany N. Bunting and Anna G. Bunting; uncles, Daniel Young and Bob Young; aunts, Edna Burns and Shirley Macy; cousins, Michael Murphy Jr. and wife Karen, and Jeanette Chaney. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donations may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
