Roger Howard Drury

MASSEY, Md. - Roger Howard Drury, 76 of Massey, died Aug. 2, 2010, in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. Mr. Drury was born on April 16, 1934, son of the late Roger and Elizabeth Schneider Drury. He was raised in Gambrills and when married moved to Warwick, where he raised his family and in 1979 moved to Massey. He was a truck driver for Baker's Petroleum, transporting asphalt and petroleum products for 38 years, retiring in 1996. In 1973 and 1984 he was presented the Safe Drivers Award by the Delaware Motor Transportation Assoc. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, tending to his large garden and helping his wife with her crafts and antiques. His C.B. handle was 'Big Daddy.' Roger is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Wright Drury; three children, Gene Drury of Massey, Brenda Drury of Galena, and Susan Plank and her husband Robert of Lancaster, Pa.; his twin sister, Mary Pumphrey and her husband Vernon of Severna Park; and sister, Elsie Linn of Gambrills; three grandchildren, Patricia Phillips and her husband Josh, Zachery Plank and Robert H. Plank; and two great-grandchildren, Dustin and Anna Phillips. Funeral service will be noon, Saturday, Aug. 7, in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will follow in Crumpton Cemetery. Memorials may be offered to the American Heart Assoc., 415 N.
