Roger D. Pearson

Roger D. Pearson, 73 DOVER - Roger D. Pearson, died Thursday, December 10, 2009, at Harbor House Nursing Home, Lewes after a long illness with diabetes. He was 73. He was born at home, January 16, 1936 in Dover; third of four sons to the late John "Drew" Pearson and Dorothy LeKites Pearson. Mr. Pearson was a graduate of Harrington High School in 1955. Shortly after high school Mr. Pearson joined the US Marine Corp. His basic training was at Paris Island S.C. then went onto aviation school in Jacksonville, Fla. He then attended aviation mechanic school in Memphis, Tenn. Mr. Pearson's tour of duty took him to Japan, Korea, Hawaii and sea duty on the Navy aircraft carrier Philippines Sea. After his four year tour he worked at Libby's Cannery in Houston, Del. in the Harrington area until starting his employment at General Foods in Dover where he was a senior mechanic keeping the assembly lines operating. He retired after 30 years. Mr. Pearson had a life's passion for mechanics could take anything apart and make it new again; TV's, car's electronic equipment, anything with a motor. He is survived by his son, Jeff Pearson of Dover; brothers, David Pearson of Springfield, Va. and John Pearson of Seattle, Wash. Services are private.
