LEWES - Robert S. Walls Jr., passed away on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008, in his home, of heart failure attributed to acute diabetes. Born in Lewes, on Dec. 27, 1968, Bob was the son of Robert S. Walls Sr. and Ann Lodge Walls. Bob was a 1987 graduate of Cape Henlopen High School, where he excelled in the Cape Marching Band and Jazz Band and performed many solo performances on his trumpet for various audiences around the country. He attended Salisbury State University after high school and was a life-long member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Lewes. Bob was an Eagle Scout at BSA Troop 1 in Lewes, and traveled to Philmont Scout Reservation in the Rocky Mountains and to the Scout High Adventure Base in the Florida Keys. He taught Junior Achievement classes in the local elementary schools for several years. Bob was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and most of all, a trusted friend. Bob worked many years at Dolle's Candyland on the Rehoboth Boardwalk as a valued employee and manager. He was recently employed as the Assistant Manager at the Rent-A-Center in Georgetown. Bob enjoyed music, writing, skiing, NASCAR and the Eagles and Flyers. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edson Jr. and Thelma Chambers Lodge, and by William S. Walls Jr. His fiancé, Sherry L. Humphrey, 37, also preceded him in death 3 months ago due to multiple health complications. Bob is survived by his mother, Ann L. Walls, of Lewes; his father Bob Sr. and his wife Jeannie, of Magnolia; and his brother and best friend, Mark, of Lewes. He is also survived by his grandmother, Helen M. Walls, of Melbourne, Fla.; great-grandmother, Ann Walls McCool, of Rehoboth; uncle, Michael Walls, of Seaford; aunt, Judi Hammond and her husband John, of Lewes; aunt, Cyndi Martin and husband Paul, of Marietta, Ga.; and a host of cousins. He and Sherry's four-legged canine companion, Bojangles, already misses him. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be at Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Lewes. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bethel United Methodist Church Music Fund, 129 W. Fourth St., Lewes, DE 19958. Send online condolences to: condolences@parsellfuneralhomes.com.
