Robert 'Bobby' Louis Layton MILFORD - Robert "Bobby" Louis Layton, of Milford, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at his home with his loving family by his side. He was 77. Robert was born on Aug. 29, 1932, in Denton, Md., son of the late James K. and Lulu B. (Hammond) Layton. He graduated from Milford High School in 1952. He received his degree in Illustration in June 1956 from the Philadelphia Museum College of Art, currently known as the University of the Arts. After graduation from college, Mr. Layton lived and worked in New York City, employed by Cushing and Neville as an illustrator.In 1959, he returned to Milford to raise his family and started his own business, Robert Layton Advertising. For many years he designed the cover page for the Milford Lions Club Telephone Directory. Mr. Layton designed the original logo for the Greater Milford Chamber of Commerce, also designing the cover page and illustrations for their booklet. He retired in 1984. He is survived by a long time loving friend, Bonnie Joan Bogardus; a son, Robert Scott Layton of Hempstead, N.Y.; a daughter, Stacy Lynn Layton of Stroudsburg, Pa.; the mother of his children, Eileen Schlussel of Long Island, N.Y.; a brother, J. Floyd Layton and his wife Jean B. of Milford; a niece, Debra Lee Layton Harvey of Greenville and Rehoboth Beach; and a nephew, Jeffrey F. Layton of Wilmington. A celebration of Bobby's life will be 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave, Milford, where friends may call one hour prior. Burial will be held in the Milford Community Cemetery on Route 113. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to hospice: Vitas, 100 Commerce Dr, Suite 302, Newark, DE, 19713.
