DOVER - Robert Kidwell, 79, heard the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant" as he left this world behind on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, in Christiana Hospital. His family was at his side. Born to the late Irvin and Ethel Kidwell on May 12, 1930, Mr. Kidwell grew up in Middletown, Ohio. He married the love of his life, Carol Ann Blackmore on Oct. 1, 1949. Mr. Kidwell entered Bible College during the first year of their marriage and was a minister of the Gospel for the next 59 years. During that time, he served at churches in Texas, Indiana, Ohio and Delaware. At the time of his death, he was the Evangelist of the Capitol City Church of Christ in Dover. Mr. Kidwell was the founder of Delmarva Christian Service Camp. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and golf. His love for his family was surpassed only by his love for the Lord. Mr. Kidwell was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lester and Raymond Kidwell; and granddaughter, Beth McClain. He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann; sons, Robert and his wife Wilda of West Elkton, Ohio, William and his wife Mary of Smyrna, and Daniel and his wife Deborah of Seaford; daughters, Kimberly (Dewar) and her husband James of Frederick, Md., and Elizabeth (McClain) and her husband Stephen of Dover; brother, Gerald Kidwell of Middletown, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23, at the Capitol City Church of Christ, 86 Lebanon Road, Dover. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 24, at the church, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to Delmarva Christian Service Camp, 143 Turner Drive, Dover, DE 19904. Local arrangements by Torbert Funeral Chapels, Dover.
