Robert Harvey Tate, 72 DOVER - Robert Harvey Tate, of Dover, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at Kent General Hospital. He was 72. Mr. Tate was born March 3, 1937, in Clarksburg, W.Va., to the late Harvey Michael Tate and Glenola Cottrill Tate. He received his Bachelors of Science and Finance degree from the Delaware State University. He served in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years retiring as an SSgt in 1976; he worked as a finace manager for the Lockheed Corp where he spent 2 years in Iran, and then 2 years in Greece. After the service he worked for 10 years at Honeywell in New Jersey and then at AEC (Advanced Electronics Company) for 5 years in Saudi Arabia. He was a member of the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post #2, Sampson Air Force Veterans Association in New York. Mr. Tate was a member of the Civil War Round Table Group. He enjoyed reading, military history and country music. Mr. Tate is survived by his wife of 25 years, Haidi Tate of Dover; two sons, Robert C. Tate, and Brendan Robert Styles, both of Dover; sister, Roxann Groebner and her husband Jerry of St. Paul, Minn.; father-in-law, Contantine Tsipas of Athens, Greece; brother-in-law, Chris Tsipas of Athens, Greece; and many cousins in West Virginia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be noon, Thursday, Dec. 24, at Holy Cross Catholic Church 631 S. State Street, Dover. Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Interment will be 2 p.m., at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post #2, Bay Road, Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
