Rita C. Brown, 85

FELTON - Rita C. Brown, died Tuesday, October 13, 2009, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 85. She was born in New Bedford, Mass., to the late George R. and Cedea V. Dube. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker. She loved to cook for her family, and she loved to sew, often times making her own clothes. In her younger years, while her husband was in the Navy, she enjoyed traveling all over the world. She will be remembered as an upbeat friendly person. She never met a stranger and was very outgoing. She enjoyed parties and having a good time. Above all, she loved her family dearly and was a great mother, wife, and grandmother, and will be sadly missed. She was preceded in death by a son, George M. Brown; and daughter, Joyce E. Thompson. She is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, George A. Brown of Felton; a son, Curtis Brown of Felton; daughter-in-law, Beverly Brown of Suffolk, Va.; son-in-law, Charles T. Thompson Sr. of Chance City, Va.; grandchildren, Charles T. Thompson Jr., Larsia Brown, and Shara Brown; and great-grandchildren, Dene' and Courtney. Memorial Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2009, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Interment will be private. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.
