He was born in Tulsa, Okla., on Thursday, Dec. 20, 1945, son of Helen L. (Stewart) Hunt, of Baltimore, Md., and the late Aaron Trent Hunt. Dick's family moved to Baltimore, Md., where he attended Towson High School. He was a starting member and point guard for their basketball team, leading the team to two State championships. He received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1972 and his Master's in 1974, both from the University of Virginia. From 1978 to 1984, he served as a senior geotechnical engineer, project manager and manager of hydropower and water resources projects for Charles T. Main, Inc, of Charlotte, N.C. During this time, he managed projects involving safety inspections and evaluations of several hundred dams, directed hydropower feasibility studies and supervised application preparations for permits and licenses. In April 1986, he was appointed the Director of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's Office of Hydropower Licensing, a Senior Executive Service position. In 1990, he participated in a Heavy Construction Delegation to the Peoples Republic of China. He also participated in the Helsinki, Finland conference to prepare the hydropower papers for the 1992 Rio Energy Summit. Dick ended his career with four years as a Senior Research Associate for the Idaho National Energy & Environmental Laboratory in Idaho Falls, ID, furthering hydropower technology. After retiring to Delaware, he became the treasurer for the Woods on Herring Creek neighborhood association. His hobbies included collecting and repairing vintage radios, skiing and boating. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends and all that knew him. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 20 years, Judith A.
