CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Richard Star Davis, of Chestertown, died Thursday, April 3, 2008, in Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 83.
He was born in Broadneck, Chestertown, on Aug. 7, 1924, son of the late William E. and Caroleen (Bryan) Davis.
Mr. Davis attended school in Pomona and worked with his father on their dairy, livestock and grain farm.
He was a lifelong farmer and was very proud of his beautiful gardens.
Mr. Davis loved animals.
His life was devoted to his family and farming.
Mr. Davis also loved fishing and hunting, along with teaching his children and grandchildren many of his talents.
He was predeceased by two brothers, William E. Davis and Robert L. Davis; and four sisters, Emma Kerr, Edna Walbert, Grace Sopher and Julia Parker.
Mr. Davis is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeanne Turner Davis of Chestertown; a son, Richard E. Davis and his wife Cheryl of Chestertown; two daughters, Linda Davis of Rock Hall and Laura Davis and her husband Robert Weiss of Colby, Kan.; a brother, C. Franklin Davis and his wife Antonia of Chestertown; three sisters, Ruth Bailey of Chestertown, Margaret Walbert of Chestertown and Elizabeth Anderson of Fort Myers, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Matthew Wheeler and his wife Julie, Edward Wheeler, Zacary Weiss, Aaron Hyslop, Michael A. Davis, Miriam Hyslop, Jeffrey Weiss, Robert J.A. Weiss and Dennis A. Davis; and three great-grandchildren, Courtney, Kacie and Isiah.
Services and burial will be held privately.
