DOVER - Richard Loris Hays, Sr. passed away peacefully, Tuesday, February 15, 2022, in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Richard was born July 29, 1935 in Bloomington, Indiana to the late, Loris & Katherine Hays.
He served proudly in the United States Air Force for over 20 years, retiring with the rank of TechSergeant. After his retirement from the military, he was employed as a mechanic, and service manager for various automotive dealerships in the area. He was a former Post Commander for the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Dover; and in his free time enjoyed watching NASCAR and football on T.V., and taking care of his family.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife, Judith; and his son, Robert.
Richard is survived by four children, Richard L. Hays, Jr. & wife, Terry, of Dover, Randy Hays & wife, Eva, of Felton, Ronny Hays & wife, Carol, of Hartly, and Ryan Hays, of Dover; his grandchildren, Jamie Beth, Ron, Jr., Cristy, Richie, Millisa, and Erin; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Veronica, Izzy, Zach, Emmy, and Kennedy; and great-great-grandchild, Olephia Betts.
Viewing will be held from 11 a.m. - 12 noon, Wednesday, February 23, 2022, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, Del. Burial will be private.
