MAGNOLIA - Rev. Elbin Noble "Buddy" Cahall, of Magnolia, went into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday, March 2, 2009, surrounded by his loving family. Buddy was born March 28, 1928, in Downs Chapel, son of the late Noble and Mary (Dutton) Cahall. In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. His favorite pastime right up to the end was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed teaching them funny songs, telling funny stories and silly jokes. He always had a smile to share and never had an unkind word to say to or about anyone. He also enjoyed setting up a table at Spence's Auction. In later years, his favorite thing was watching Jerry Springer everyday. As well as his parents, Buddy is preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey Cahall and John James Hickman; a grandson, Randy Cahall; a great-grandson, Elbin Noble Finkbiner Jr.; three brothers; a sister; and his first wife, Ellen Pritchett. He is survived by his soul mate and wife of 39 years, Margaret (Thornburg) Cahall; children, Deborah Hickman and husband Skip of Greenwood, Mike Cahall and wife Robin of Willow Grove, June Hobbs and husband John of Felton, Tommy Cahall and wife Dottie of Harrington, Beth Boggs of Houston, Amy Rust and husband Kermit of Harrington and Meg Ziehmer and her husband Darwin of Magnolia with whom Buddy lived; a grandson whom he raised, Jeffrey Cahall of Frederica. He is also survived by three sisters and two brothers and their spouses, Joyce of Felton, Mary of California, Betty of Wilmington, Donald of Engleside and Billy of Long Neck; as well as 25 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, especially Sam and Ashley Krouse who helped care for him daily. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main St., Felton, where friends may call Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
