HARTLY - Retta (Pat) Crossland, of Hartly, passed away on Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at Capitol Health Care in Dover. She was 82. Mrs. Crossland was born Dec. 7, 1928, in Wilmington, the daughter of the late Merritt Hanson and Retta Milligan Paxson. She worked as a Cook at Peggy's Truck Stop on Rt. 40 near Bear. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved ex-husband, Charles W. Crossland; her beloved friend, Harry Ellis; three sons, William Crossland, James Crossland, Robert Crossland; a daughter, Helyn Davis; and a son-in-law, Daniel Cole. She is survived by her two daughters, Charlotte Cole of Dover and Karen Kemp and her husband Bill of Hartly; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way; and her two dearest friends, Dot Domanski of New Castle, and Betty Griffith of Dover. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, from 7 to 9 p.m., in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, and again on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at 10 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Burial will be held in St. George's Cemetery located in St. George.
