Register: New cars’ headlights are too bright

Posted

To whom it may concern: The headlights on these new cars and trucks are extremely dangerous, especially to drivers who wear glasses and older motorists driving at night. These high-intensity headlights are so bright that older drivers and drivers with vision-enhancing glasses are blinded to the point that they can’t see for at least 20-30 seconds after passing them.

Then, there’s the vehicles that have high-intensity fog lights and lightbars that are ridiculously bright. You also have the inconsiderate drivers who travel down the road with their high beams on, blinding everybody coming toward them.

The high-intensity headlights on these new vehicles need to be toned down in light intensity output, as they are way too bright and cause a dangerous situation when passing oncoming vehicles. I wish the Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles would investigate this issue, as people are at high risk during evening and nighttime driving.
