Register: Caesar Rodney was patriot who deserved statue

Posted

The Caesar Rodney statue is a representation of a patriot who braved harsh threats on his life — as did many of the other forefathers of America — from the king of England, who wanted him arrested, tried and hung for treason.

Caesar Rodney freed his slaves in 1784, as part of his last will and testament at the time of his death. There’s more about this great patriot than meets the eye. Schools and universities do not teach American history anymore, so the younger generation has no clue of how America was born.

The frenzied removal of Caesar Rodney’s statue and many others did nothing to change the history of this great nation but left questions as to why they were removed. Stupidity is one reason.
