Rebecca Jane Matthews, of Federalsburg, MD, left this world on June 1, 2026. Born on December 11, 1940, in Walkertown, she was the daughter of the late Hildred R. Hitchens and Rebecca Grace Dearth Hitchens.
Rebecca is survived by her children: Stephen Matthews, Dee Matthews, and David Matthews (Kim), all of Federalsburg; her grandchildren: Kelsey Larmore (David), Ryan Edsall, Sidney Quidas (Zach), Tyler Matthews, Hailey Alford (Richard), Zachary Pridgen, Austin Matthews, Darren Matthews, and Alyssa Matthews; her great-grandchildren: Carleigh Larmore and Adalyn Larmore; her siblings: Shirley Breeding of Federalsburg, Darlene Gray of Ocean Pines and William Edward Hitchens, Sr. (Carol) of Federalsburg; her former husband but longtime friend, Edward Matthews of Federalsburg and a host of nieces and nephews that will miss her dearly.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sister June Cutchin and her brother-in-law Bill Breeding.
Funeral services will be held on June 5, 2026, at the Framptom Funeral Home in Federalsburg, with a visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. followed by the service at 12:00 p.m. Burial at Hill Crest Cemetery will follow the funeral service.
