DOVER — Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is raising excitement, as it prepares to open its first restaurant in the capital city at 10 a.m. Oct. 7.
“We’re incredibly excited to be joining the Dover community,” Jason Thompson, a restaurant leader for the company, stated in a press release. “One of the things that makes Dover so special is its unique blend of being the state capital while still feeling like a close-knit, small town.
“There’s a real sense of pride and connection here and we’re honored to be a part of it all while serving our One Love — Craveable Chicken Finger Meals.”
Before Raising Cane’s opens its doors at 1151 N. Dupont Highway, customers are encouraged to secure a place in line, as the party “will start early with an array of can’t-miss giveaways and celebrations.”
Those include:
• A “Lucky 20” drawing for 20 customers (ages 13-plus) who will be given free Cane’s for a year. Entries will be accepted from 8-9 that morning, with the drawing shortly after. Awardees must be present to win.
• Former NFL wide receiver and current Delaware State University football coach DeSean Jackson will greet fans from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
• Commemorative hats and cards for free box combos (valid during future visits) will be doled out to those who purchase the first 100 combos, while supplies last.
• The first person in line will receive a big greeting from the crew and a one-of-a-kind gift basket.
• A DJ will spin tunes throughout the day.
• A check will be presented to PAWS for People, a nonprofit committed to improving lives by providing therapeutic visits with volunteers and their certified pets.
• A ribbon cutting will start around 8:50 a.m.
• Performances are planned by the DSU and Dover High School cheerleaders.
Since August 1996 and throughout the country, Raising Cane’s has served chicken finger meals, with toast, homemade coleslaw, crinkle-cut fries and signature Cane’s sauce.
The Dover site is adjacent to Grotto Pizza and includes a double-lane drive-thru, plus extended late-night hours.
Customers are invited to explore the eatery and take in curated memorabilia celebrating the city.
