FELTON - Raeman Carlton "Cy" Haines passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 83. He was born in Westville, N.J., with parents and siblings moving shortly after his birth to Aura. He went to grade school in Aura, but when his parents bought a farm in Thorofare, N.J., the family moved 4/4/44. He lived in Thorofare, graduated from Paulsboro High School, and met the love of his life, Marion Thorne. Some years after marrying, Carlton moved his family to their new home, a farm in Delaware, where he continued to farm until he retired. As well as farming, he worked for Kent County, from which he also retired. He and his wife shared 64 years together, enjoying their children, grandchildren, the many great-grandchildren, other family and friends. He will be dearly missed by his family. Cy was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Thackra Haines and Elizabeth Clement Haines; brothers, Benjamin Franklin and Clement; sister, Beulah Adelaide Haines; and grandson, Jason. He is survived by a son, Kenneth M. Haines and his wife Wanda Wilson Haines of Belvedere, N.C.; three daughters, Susan Haines Grant and her husband Royal E. Grant, III of Felton, Bonnie Haines Voshell and her husband Ronald R. Voshell, Sr. of Felton, and Nancy Haines Kemble and her husband L. James Kemble of Townsend; a special niece, Judy Haines Venuto and her husband Michael Venuto; grandchildren, Wendy and John Leo Walter, David Carlton Chambers, Kelli and Tommie Dale, Becky and Dan Gaffney, John Chambers, Wade and Allison Carter, Benjamin and Rachel Haines, Katie and Ashley Williams, and J. Adam and Carrie Kemble; step grandchildren, Kimberly Willman, Ronald R. Voshell, II, and Aimee String; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Keavy, Brett, Nova Rae, Elyssa, Wil, Nathan, Raegan, Conrad, Thomas, Emory, Jude, Luke, Jasper, Daniel, Samuel, Griffin, Cain Raeman, Opal, Emmett, and Ace; and nine step-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be 3 p.m., Sunday, June 12, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather one hour earlier. Burial will be private.
