Madison Barber netted three first-half goals as the Polytech High girls’ soccer team stayed unbeaten with a 7-0 victory over St. Georges on Tuesday evening.
McKinley Boyce (1 assist) and Megan Popp (1 assist) both scored twice in the second half while Cecilia Rivera contributed four assists for the Panthers (4-0).
Goalie Delaney Dillon made three saves. Polytech, which out-shot the Hawks 22-3, hasn’t allowed a goal yet this season.
Caesar Rodney 6, Sussex Academy 0: Gabrielle Davis netted two goals and an assist as the Riders evened their record at 2-2.
Haley Schafer, Erin Hirvela, Jada McCullough and Kate Benson also scored for CR, which out-shot the Seahawks 22-14. Kylee Elliott made five saves.
Sussex Academy got five saves from Emma Westbrook.
Smyrna 4, Delmar 2: Hannah Osborne tallied the Eagles’ first two goals with Desiree Zapata adding the last two to break a 2-2 tie.
Taylor Tull and Rachel Anchundia scored goals for the Wildcats.
Sussex Tech 4, Lake Forest 0: Lilly Short scored a pair of second-half goals as the Ravens pulled away to the win.
Hannah Murphy (1 assist) and Angela Miltenberger also scored for the Ravens with Alexandra Johnson making three saves.
Lake goalie Kyra Moyer finished with 21 saves as Sussex Tech out-shot the Spartans, 25-3.
Middletown 6, Dover 0: Gabriella Riley collected three goals and an assist to pace the Cavaliers.
Campbell Gibson made 14 saves for the Senators, who were out-shot, 20-4.
Milford 10, Woodbridge 0: The Buccaneers tallied six first-half goals before improving to 4-2.
Laurel 7, Delmarva Christian 0: The Bulldogs tallied six second-half goals in the win.
First State Military 4, McKean 3: Kyndall Wyngaard’s goal in the 76th minute gave the Bulldogs the program’s first varsity win on Monday.
Kayla Gamboa Alvarado, Samantha Clark and Lacy Wynne all netted first-half goals for FSMA.
Baseball
Polytech 5, Lake Forest 4: The Panthers scored twice in the top of the seventh to break a 3-3 tie before holding off the Spartans.
Winning pitcher Kyle McVey struck out 11 while allowing only one run over the last five innings. Joseph Masten had two hits,
Gabe Martin and Adam Schiff had two hits apiece for the Spartans.
Milford 8, Caravel 3: Trailing by two, Milford scored the final seven runs of the game to raise its record to 6-1.
Winning pitcher Dale Ostermann struck out five in five-plus innings, Shawn Saxon had two RBI while Alex Mergner had an RBI double and scored twice.
Caesar Rodney 6, Seaford 0: Freshman Graham Buckson tossed a complete-game four-hitter with nine strikeouts to earn the shutout for the Riders.
Josh Harvey had two hits and a pair of RBI for CR, which led 4-0 after three innings.
Blue Jay pitcher Sean Martinez allowed only two earned runs in 4.1 innings.
Appoquinimink 9, Smyrna 0: In a contest that was scoreless until the fourth, the Jaguars took control with five runs in the fifth.
Dwayne Ratcliffe and Dalton Leager accounted for the Eagles’ two hits.
Softball
Caesar Rodney 6, Concord 1: Peyton Shields pitched a three-hitter, allowing only a seventh-inning run, as the Riders improved to 6-0 with the road win.
Sydney Hatch had a triple while Stacey Deputy doubled to sparks CR’s 11-hit attack.
Seaford 8, Delmarva Christian 5: Winning pitcher Jada Evans threw a five-hitter with 11 strikeouts and also homered for the Blue Jays.
Cameron Knowles, who went 2-for-3 with a double, and Evans both scored twice.
Grace Fetterman scored a pair of runs for the Royals.
Sussex Central 6, Delaware Military 2: The Golden Knights rallied for five runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull out the victory.
Cat Hassler had three of Central’s eight hits, Katelyn Evick homered and winning pitcher Madge Layfield struck out 12.
Laurel 11, Sussex Tech 10: The Bulldogs rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to edge the Ravens.
The two squads combined for 26 hits and 21 runs.
Christiana 18, Early College 2: The Hornets led 2-0 after scoring twice in the top of the first before the Vikings took over.
Wilmington Charter 11, First State Military 0: The Force blanked the Bulldogs in a Diamond State Conference game.
St. Georges 9, Polytech 2: Jumaria Sample hit her first career homer for the Panthers while pitcher Mara Everton struck out 13 in the loss.
Cape Henlopen 16, Sussex Academy 0: Freshman Marissa Frederick pitched a seven-inning perfect game with 16 strikeouts in the Vikings’ win on Monday.
Cape Henlopen led only 5-0 before erupting for 11 runs in the top of the seventh.
College field hockey
James Madison 2, Delaware 1: A goal from Berber Bakermans gave the Blue Hens an early 1-0 lead but the Dukes rallied for a pair of goals to take the CAA win.
Ashlyn Carr (Delmar) assisted on the goal for UD (1-2 CAA, 2-3 overall).
College softball
UD’s Garber honored: Delaware junior centerfielder Hanna Garber was named the Colonial Athletic Association Softball Player of the Week.
Garber, who was also selected CAA Co-Player of the Week on March 30, batted .643 during UD’s four games last week with team-highs of nine hits, seven runs scored, two triples and six RBI.
College golf
Hens finish third at CAAs: The Delaware women’s golf team fired its lowest round of the tournament with a 298 to finish third at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship.
Delaware carded a 916 three-round total, placing among the top three teams at the event for the seventh consecutive year.
