PNCM Raymond Stanley Bednarcik

DOVER - Raymond S. Bednarcik, Jr. passed away Sat., Sept. 14, 2013 in Kent General Hospital, Dover. Raymond was born on Oct. 21, 1930 in Clifton, N.J., son of the late Raymond S. Bednarcik, Sr. and Marie Breeman Bednarcik. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy for over 23 years serving during both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He retired in 1971 at the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. Following his military service, he worked 31 years for John Hancock Financial Services. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and the Fleet Reserve. Raymond was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His family was his "entire" focus in life during his retirement years. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Rose Bednarcik; a daughter, Diane Courtney and her husband Vaughn of Dover; two sons, Raymond S. Bednarcik III and his wife Debra of California, Md. and Robert Bednarcik and his wife Donna of Stafford, Va.; eight grandchildren, Lindsey and husband Brian Rigby of Annapolis, Md., Dr. Jennifer and husband Shea Frazier of California, Md., Erin and husband 1st Lt. Danny MacLeish USAR of Bear, Del., Raymond Bednarcik IV of Poplar, Mont., Vaughn Courtney, Jr., of California, Md., Alexandria, Jessica, and Madison Bednarcik of Stafford, Va.; great grandchildren, Cullen and James Rigby of Annapolis, Md. and Daniel MacLeish, Jr. of Bear, Del. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Mon., Sept. 16, 2013 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tues., Sept. 17, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 631 S. State St., Dover. Burial with military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Kent County S.P.C.A., 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934. Letters of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com
