Phyllis Busby Jones Sockriter

HARBESON - Phyllis Busby Jones Sockriter, age 81, of Harbeson, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Oct. 1, 2013, following a year long battle with cancer. Phyllis was born at home in rural Idalia, Colorado, the daughter of the late Cecil Roy and Frances Irene Busby. She was a graduate of Armel High School. Phyllis married the late Robert E. Jones in 1949. They had two children and moved to Bridgeville, in 1970. She was an employee of the Baltimore Trust Co. for many years and a member of the Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville. She married Samuel C. Sockriter in 1985 and they resided together at his home until his death in 2003. She attended Conley's Methodist Church in Lewes. Phyllis enjoyed her garden, flowers, embroidery, and time spent with her family and friends. Phyllis will be dearly missed by her family. She is survived by her children, John E. Jones of Manassas, Va., Sheree Jones Berl and her husband Richard of Lewes; two grandchildren, Ricky Berl and his wife Robin and daughter Juniper of Pullman, Wash., Brendan Berl of Aspen, Colo.; her two step-children, Michael C. Sockriter and his wife Janet of Lewes, Samuel 'Morris' Sockriter and his wife Jean of Long Neck; three step-grandchildren, Christopher Sockriter and his wife Valarie, Sara Sockriter Croce and her husband Bobby, and Shannon Sockriter Fultz of Martinsburg, Va.; and five step-great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Sophie Sockriter, Emily Croce, and Logan and Gabriella Fultz; sister, Joan Kern of Shawnee, Kan.; and brother, Stan Busby and his wife Tina of Bridgeville. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life memorial service at 1 p.m., Oct. 26, 2013 at Conley's Chapel 22150 Robinsonville Rd. Lewes, DE 19958 where friends may call after 12 noon. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in her memory to: The Tunnell Cancer Center 18947 John J. Williams Hwy Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971 or Delaware Hospice 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Arrangements handled by Short Funeral Services.
