CAMDEN — Polytech High erupted for seven runs in the top of the ninth innings to register a 14-7 victory over Caesar Rodney in Henlopen North softball on Monday afternoon.
The contest had been tied at 7-7 since the Riders scored a run in the bottom of the sixth.
The Panthers’ 20-hit attack was paced by Julia MacConnell (6 RBI), Riley Brown (4 hits, 3 RBI) and Mackenzie Mitchell (3 hits). Winning pitcher Mara Everton struck out 15 and gave up only two earned runs.
CR, which finished with 10 hits, rallied from a 5-0 deficit in the top of the seventh.
