Dover pedestrian dies in vehicle collision

DOVER — A 57-year-old Dover man died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a road Tuesday.

According to Dover police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid, at approximately 9:35 p.m., officers responded to the area of North Dupont and Kings highways after a call about a crash involving a pedestrian.

Officers located the victim and began rendering aid. The man was transported to Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus in Dover, where he was later pronounced dead.

Cpl. Schmid said the man was struck by the car while crossing an intersection on foot. He was not wearing any reflective material, and his identify is being withheld pending notification of kin.

The driver was not injured.

An investigation continues, and police ask anyone with information to call 302-736-7130.
