'Sissy' Evans, 78 SMYRNA - Pauline Avis 'Sissy' Evans was upon God's command, peacefully taken into the arms of an angel, and gently lifted to the heavens to take her eternal place in God's house on Nov. 5, 2012. She was born on Nov. 10, 1933 to her loving mother and friend, Helen L. Evans, and father, Lawrence G. Evans. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Paula Denise Backus; and a brother, Charles Evans. She leaves to mourn her passing, five children, daughter, Carmita R. Kelley of Smyrna; four sons, David Evans of Lancaster, Pa., Verneal Evans and his wife Sandy of Hephzibah, Ga., Lex Evans of Newark, and Donnie Evans; sister, Dr. Marion Proffitt and her husband of Avondale, Pa.; three brothers, James Evans of North Las Vegas, Nev., Lawrence Evans Jr. of Fuquay Varina, N.C. William Evans and his wife of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, granchildren, great-grandchildren, and some very special friends at the Smyrna Diner who always took the very best care of her. In lieu of cards and flowers, the family requests that you take a moment to remember "Sissy" or "Ms. P", as she was affectionately known to most, for her effervescence, the laughter shared and the smiles she always brought to all of those in her presence. John 14:1-4 I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life "Let not your heart be troubled. Believe in GOD; Believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going."
