Paul J. Pierce, 57 DOVER - Ret. MSgt. USAF, Paul J. Pierce, 57, of Dover, was called home by the Lord to be with his loved ones on Thursday, March 22, 2012, in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side. Born on March 19, 1955, in Upland, Pa., he was the son of the late Douglas and Elizabeth Jane (Congleton) Pierce. In 1973 Paul enlisted with the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country during the Vietnam and Gulf Wars. He retired in 1995 after 22 years of dedicated service to his country. He loved and was proud to be a member of the 436 Squadron, Dover Air Force Base. Following his retirement he continued to work as a civilian at DAFB until he took his final flight home to be with the Lord on Thursday. Paul loved his country and his USAF family. He was honored to be a member of the American Legion in Dover. Paul enjoyed volunteering his time at DAFB, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family. His ultimate love was being a pop-pop. He had a passion and love for the Philadelphia Eagles and enjoyed season passes to watch the Phillies play every year. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his darling granddaughter, Hailey JadeMarie Pierce. He leaves many wonderful and cherished memories to his loving wife, Dianne; four children, Justin Stuckey, Scott, Douglas and Stacy Pierce; sister, Constance Pierce Bratten; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Godfrey, Madison and Andrew Pierce, Victoria Godfrey, Julianna Stuckey and Alyssa Wiseburn; his two faithful companions, Molly and Emma; as well as many dear friends and colleagues at DAFB. Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m., Wednesday morning, March 28, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street, Middletown, where friends may visit with his family from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at 11 a.m. at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, where full military honors will be provided by the 436 Squadron of DAFB. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Helen Graham Cancer Center, 4701 Ogletown-Stanton Road, Suite 3400, Newark, DE 19713 in memory of Paul Pierce. Arrangements by Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, Middletown. On-line condolences may be sent to www.daniels-hutchison.com.
