DOVER - Paul E. Wilhelm, Jr. passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 30, 2022. Born on September 1, 1932, in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Margaret A. (Cooney) and Paul E. Wilhelm, Sr.
Paul served four years in the U.S. Navy and received an honorable discharge in 1955. He spent 33 years working as a Civil Service Sheet Metal Technician at Dover Air Force Base and retired in 1987. Paul loved family gatherings, model railroading, wood working, and baseball. He spent 36 years as a volunteer umpire with the Camden-Wyoming Little League and cheered on his favorite team, the Philadelphia Phillies. Paul is a past recipient of the Humanitarian Award by the Dr. Benjamin F. Burton Foundation for his outstanding work in the best interest of children in the community.
Paul was predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Janet E. (Johnson) Wilhelm; and brothers, Robert Wilhelm and Warren Wilhelm.
He is survived by five children: Glenn Wilhelm (Rockie) of Dover, Valerie Pryor (Chris) of Magnolia, Sharon Wilhelm of Milford, Margaret Dill (Joe) of Wyoming, and Mark Wilhelm of Hockessin; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Services will be Monday, November 7, 2022, at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE 19934. Viewing is 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. followed by funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial immediately following at Sharon Hills Memorial Park, 2928 Sharon Hill Road, Dover, DE 19904.
