Paul Donald Porter Sr.

GOLDSBORO, Md. - Paul Donald "Duck" Porter Sr., 75, of Goldsboro, died on Sunday, July 17, 2011, with his family by his side in the Hospice of Queen Anne's, Centreville, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Nov. 25, 1935, in Greensboro to the late Raymond Hursey Porter, Sr. and Dorothy Esther Roe Porter. To begin his working career Duck farmed, he then went on to work for General Foods of Dover. He was a supervisor there retiring after over 30 years of service. He was an avid goose hunter, especially with his hunting buddies Eddie and Jay Lockwood. He also enjoyed gardening, watching his grandsons play baseball and spending time with his many Amish friends. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and the Denton Masonic Temple Lodge #128. Duck will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Duck is survived by his only son Paul D. Porter, Jr. and daughter-in-law Wanda Sue of Church Hill; one granddaughter, Julia Porter of Greensboro; two grandsons, Chase Porter and Chance Porter, both of Church Hill; and one brother, Maurice Porter of Greensboro. In addition to his parents, Duck was preceded in death by his brother, R. Hursey Porter, Jr. and Lorraine Porter. The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W Sunset Ave, Greensboro. Family and friends may call for a visitation on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be in the Greensboro Cemetery. The family suggests donations be made to the Institute for Legislative Action; NRA, PO Box 5200; Forrester Center, WV 25438-9892, Hospice of Queen Anne's, Inc. 255 Comet Dr. Centreville, MD 21617 or Goldsboro Volunteer Fire Company; PO Box 35; Goldsboro, MD 21636.
