Patricia “Pat” Ann Titus, 85

Posted

Patricia “Pat” Ann Titus passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025.
Pat was born in Bristol, Pennsylvania, on May 28, 1940, to Julian and Sarah (Patterson) Gancarz. She was raised on the family farm, and her parents also owned and operated a separate cannery and horseradish processing plant. Working alongside her siblings, Pat learned the value of hard work from an early age. She carried that work ethic with her throughout her life and was never idle, always busy creating, building, and finding ways to entertain.
Pat grew up in a close-knit family who knew how to make the most of what they had. Though they had little, there was plenty of creativity, laughter, and resourcefulness. Pat embodied those traits throughout her life. There was nothing she couldn’t do, whether sewing and quilting, crocheting, painting, building dollhouses, or woodworking. She never lost her childlike spirit, and her quick wit and imagination left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Pat married and settled in Fallsington, Pennsylvania, where she raised her three children. Working for the family businesses at first, then eventually becoming a bank teller and bookkeeper. After 20 years and a divorce, life came full circle when she reunited with her high school sweetheart, Art. Together, they married and relocated to Greenwood, Delaware, where they purchased a chicken farm.
Pat was a devoted and fun-loving grandmother. She created joyful memories for her grandchildren, whether it was afternoons spent swimming in her pool, drawing self-portraits around her kitchen table, or just being one of the kids. Even in her final days, she cherished these memories. She recalled playing hide-and-seek on the chicken farm and the unforgettable time her grandchildren accidentally locked her in the sheep barn, a story that never failed to bring laughter.
Pat had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved Giant Schnauzers. Over the years, she raised many dogs, each one a cherished companion who held a special place in her heart. A visit to Pat’s home always meant being greeted  by her loyal pups. She loved sharing stories of the training classes and took great pride in the dedication to raising her dogs.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, George Gancarz, John Gancarz, James Gancarz, and Alice (Gancarz) Loch.
Pat is survived by her husband Art of 43 years, her children, Susan (Dave) Nicol, Carol (Frank) Hrupsa, Robert (Lisa) Adams, her grandchildren Lee McClister, Katie (Justin) Comegys, John (Jessica) McClister, Thomas Adams, Nicholas Adams, and great-grandchildren Brynlee Comegys, Lane McClister, Reed Comegys, and Emersyn McClister.
The family will hold a private service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites relatives and friends to donate to Delaware Hospice.
