Amherst, NY - Patricia Nelson Meyer, formerly of Newark, DE, died suddenly Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015 in Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. She was raised in Newark, the daughter of Margaret Baker Nelson and Harry M. Nelson, now of Dover. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Gordon W. Meyer, of Amherst, NY; her son, Nicholas P. Meyer and his wife, Kirsten, of Manlius, NY; and many loving relatives and friends here and in the Buffalo area. Survivors include her husband's brother and sisters, Gerry, Meg, and Catie; her Uncle Leonard and Roxanne Nelson; Uncle Bill Baker; Aunt Dorothy Nelson Godwin; and her very dear friend, Paulette Schlosser Ridgely, whom she first met at church nursery school. Pat was a graduate of U. of DE and received her Master's in Public Health at the U. of Michigan. Her most recent work was at the Breast Resource Center at Roswell Park Cancer Institute where she enjoyed the privilege of working with patients. She was a dedicated member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chap. BI. She will be remembered by all who knew her for her sharp intellect, kindness and sense of humor as well as for being a wonderful mother to Nick and a devoted wife to Gordon. Pat was a member of two book clubs and enjoyed cross-stitch, quilting, cooking and decorating. She was an ardent fan of the Buffalo Sabres, and she and Gordon delighted in many activities together including ballroom dancing, attending music and theater performances, and exercising. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education mailed to P.E.O. International, 3700 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50312. Contributions may also be made online at www.peointernational.org under "Giving Opportunities" where "P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education" is an option under "online donations." The family wishes to thank the Staff in the Neurosurgical ICU of Bayhealth for their many caring acts of kindness and compassion. A service will be held in Pat's memory at Westminster Retirement Community, 191 Westminster Drive, Dover, on Oct. 17th at 12 noon. Another service will be held in the Buffalo area at a date still to be determined.
