DOVER - Ontry Cornelius Patten, of Dover, 76, peacefully went to heaven on Sept. 26, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Ontry was born to the late Nolan Barclay and Josephine Patten. He was raised to adulthood by his adoptive mother, Dorothy Savage, and family. He served honorably in the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, and retired from the U.S. Navy. While stationed in the Philippines, he met the love of his life Macaria T. Patten, and they were wed in January 1971. He returned to Dover to work until retirement for the State of Delaware Department of Corrections. Ontry was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend who enjoyed spending time with his family and telling war stories. He is survived by his loving wife, seven children, seven grandchildren and a large extended family. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 30, at the Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.
