DOVER - Olufunlayo "Funmi" Jegede, age 56, of Dover, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. Funmi worked for the State of Delaware's Public Service Commission as a financial analyst and previously at the Met Life Insurance Company in the insurance and securities sales division. She was also known for her entrepreneurial skills, owning and operating the Africana Fashions & Services Company. Funmi enjoyed spending time with family, cooking, gardening, and loved to travel. She was a volunteer mentor at North Dover Elementary School and was involved in many philanthropic efforts here and abroad, including building homes and providing other necessities for those in need. She attended Christ School (high school) and University of Ibadan in Nigeria. Funmi also received an MBA from Alabama A&M University. She was a member of Christ Apostolic Church in Nigeria, where she served as a deaconess, and she was also a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church in Dover. Funmi is survived by her husband, Leke Jegede; a son, Deji Jegede; a daughter, Wande Jegede; her parents, Emmanuel and Marian Olowere; two sisters, Bolanle Ogunyemi and Dupe Ajiwe; and four brothers, Kola, Femi, Biodun, and Simeon Olowere. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 in Calvary Assembly of God, 1141 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a service in celebration of Funmi's Life at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Sharon Hills Cemetery, Dover.
