Norman Walter Calloway, 85
RIDGELY, Md. - Norman Walter Calloway, of Ridgely, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009. He was 85. He was born Dec. 6, 1923, in Tuckahoe Neck, to the late Mildred Stevens and Clifford Calloway Sr. Mr. Calloway graduated from Denton High School in 1941. He was a lifelong farmer running a dairy farm in Queen Anne for 26 years with never missing a milking - which he often did by hand. Mr. Calloway was a gentle and kind man who never spoke ill of anyone and who is greatly loved and will be sadly missed by his adoring family. His passions were rabbit hunting, fox hunting, gardening and his love for his family. In addition to his wife of 63 years, Mary Ireland Calloway, he is survived by his three daughters, Janet Meyers and husband Frank of Greensboro, Connie Hutson and husband Sonny of Ridgely, and Cathy Spencer and husband David of Greensboro; five grandchildren, Dawn Jackson and husband Chris, Erin Braband and husband Ben, Heidi Fellon and husband Gregg, Barret Spencer and wife Emily, and Shelby Spencer; nine great-grandchildren, Marissa Berger, Brandon Fellon, Kylie Lynch, Cole Brooks Miller, Krista Jackson, Katie Fellon, Kyle Fellon, Madison Braband, and Brooklynn Spencer, and another great-grandchild is due in July; four brothers, Robert Calloway of Queen Anne, Gary Calloway of Ridgely, Charles Calloway of Centreville, and William Calloway of Denton; and one sister, Beverly Banks of Bridgetown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Eugene Calloway; grandson, Brooks David Spencer; and brothers, Paul Calloway, and Clifford Calloway Jr. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, in Hillsboro-Queen Anne U. M. Church, Hillsboro, where a visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Hillsboro.
