Norma Jean Hartnett, 63

SMYRNA - Norma Jean Hartnett, of Smyrna, died peacefully at the DE Hospice Center, Milford, on Sept. 26, 2009. She was 63. She was born in Dover on Nov. 18, 1945, and had been a homemaker and caretaker to her late mother-in-law, Helen Postles and to her late brother-in-law Jack Postles. Norma enjoyed being around family and friends, and loved doing needlework, knitting, and attending craft shows. She was preceded in death by her father, George Deats; and her husband of 37 years, George L. "Larry" Hartnett. She is survived by her mother, Josephine Deats of Smyrna; three children, George L. Hartnett II and his wife Susan of Magnolia, Matthew Hartnett and his girlfriend Helen Best of Smyrna, and a daughter, Nadine Pepper of Smyrna; two step-children, Marcus Hartnett of Florida, and Clara Parson of Texas; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several aunts and uncles. Services will he 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 1, at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Dover.
