Norma A. Dempsey

Norma A. Dempsey, 65 KENNEDYVILLE, Md. - Norma A. Dempsey, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010, in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown, Md. She was 65. Norma was born December 13, 1944 in Corsicana, Texas, and raised in Kennedyville, daughter of the late Robert and Gwendolyn Lance Dempsey. She began her career as a Registered Nurse at Kent & Queen Anne's Hospital and retired from the Cecil County Health Department in 2006, after 34 years of service. Norma was a Life Member of the Kennedyville Volunteer Fire Company, where she was past secretary and assistant secretary, a Life Member and Past President of their Ladies Auxiliary, and Past EMS Captain. She was a member of Kennedyville United Methodist Church. She is survived by her brother, James Dempsey and his wife, Constance of Feltonville, Pa.; a nephew, Shane W. Dempsey and his wife, Allison; a niece, Stephanie Dempsey; and two grandnieces, Hannah and Samara. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010, in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, Md. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2010, in Kennedyville United Methodist Church, Kennedyville, Md. Burial in adjoining cemetery. Donations may be offered to Kennedyville U.M. Church, P.O. Box 32; or Kennedyville V.F.C., P.O. Box 98, Kennedyville, MD 21645.
