...THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR EASTERN HUNTERDON AND CENTRAL
BUCKS COUNTIES IS CANCELLED...
The storms which prompted the warning have moved out of the warned
area. Therefore, the warning has been cancelled.
A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for
central, northern and northwestern New Jersey.
...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 545 PM EDT
FOR MORRIS...SOUTHEASTERN SUSSEX...NORTH CENTRAL MERCER...CENTRAL
SOMERSET...NORTH CENTRAL MONMOUTH AND MIDDLESEX COUNTIES...
At 532 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from Butler to Summit to near Society Hill to near
Mercerville-Hamilton Square, moving east at 30 mph.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. This line of storms has a history of
producing wind damage.
SOURCE...Law enforcement.
IMPACT...Damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is
possible.
Locations impacted include...
New Brunswick, Perth Amboy, Morristown, Somerville, Somerset, Edison,
Old Bridge, East Brunswick, South Brunswick, Sayreville, North
Brunswick, Carteret, Dover, Madison, Middlesex, Princeton, Florham
Park, East Hanover, Lincoln Park, and Bound Brook.
This includes the following highways...
New Jersey Turnpike between exits 10 and 12.
Interstate 78 in New Jersey between mile markers 33 and 42.
Interstate 80 in New Jersey between mile markers 34 and 47.
Interstate 287 in New Jersey between mile markers 0 and 18, and
between mile markers 25 and 54.
Garden State Parkway between mile markers 119 and 133.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a
building.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.
...HEAT ADVISORY IS CANCELLED...
With storms moving through the area knocking down temperatures, the
threat has now ended.
...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT SATURDAY...
* WHAT...Heat index values up to 102 degrees.
* WHERE...Portions of northern Delaware, central, northern, and
southern New Jersey, and southeast Pennsylvania.
* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Saturday.
* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
illnesses.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Warm and very humid conditions at night will
not offer much relief from the heat and humidity.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.

* WHERE...In New Jersey, Morris and Hunterdon Counties. In
Pennsylvania, Upper Bucks, Western Chester, and Western Montgomery
Counties.
