Nikolaus Pawlyk Jr., 52
MARYDEL - Nikolaus Pawlyk Jr., of Marydel, died Saturday, June 15, 2008. He was 52.
Mr. Pawlyk was born Jan. 20, 1956, in Wilmington, to Nikolaus Pawlyk Sr. and Ingeborg Labonvois Pawlyk of Wilmington.
He graduated from John Dickinson High School in 1974.
After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He was active duty for eight years and spent 20 years in the reserves, and had flown all over the world.
Mr. Pawlyk was employed in civil service for Dover Air Force Base as an aicraft mechanic.
During his active duty, Mr. Pawlyk went to Delaware Tech and received his associate's degree in computer science programming, graduating in 1982.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Marydel, and the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.
Mr. Pawlyk enjoyed sailing and fishing in Delaware and Maryland, wood carving, cooking, and was a wonderful storyteller, but his greatest loves were his wife and children.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Sherri Lynn (Queen) Pawlyk of Marydel; his son, Jason N. Pawlyk of the home; his daughter, Jennifer Cooper and her husband Travis Sr. of Dover; his sister, Linda Pawlyk of Haddon Township, N.J.; four brothers-in-law, Daniel J. Queen III, Michael D. Queen, Mark Pennington and Vince Pennington; and a grandson, Travis Cooper Jr.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where friends may call two hours prior.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be sent to Chesapeake Bay Foundation, attn: Membership Department, 6 Herndon Ave., Annapolis, MD 21403.
