Nellie K. Prather

Nellie K. Prather, 88 FELTON - Nellie K. Prather, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009. She was 88. Mrs. Prather was born November 3, 1921 in Birdseye, Ind., and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Nancy Kellems. She had been a longtime resident of Wilmington, and relocated to Felton three years ago. Mrs. Prather retired from Hercules in 1986. She was an active member of Church of Christ for over 65 years, and was a long time member of the quilters club. Her interests included giving of herself to charitable causes, sewing, reading, and child care. Mrs. Prather is survived by three sons, Ivan Prather, Loris Prather and his wife, Anne, and Jeff Prather; a sister, Maxine Abel of Indiana; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010, at Cedars Church of Christ, 511 Greenbank Rd., Wilmington. Donations in her memory may be made to Meals on Wheels, 1121 Forrest Ave., Dover, DE 19901; or any other organization involved in the care of children and the homeless. Arrangements are by Michael J. Ambruso, Funeral Director Inc., Dover. Condolences may be forwarded and Guest Book signed via www.ambruso.com.
