Nellie Bennett Craig

DOVER - Nellie Bennett Craig passed away Tuesday, June 14, at Broad Meadows Nursing Home, Middletown. She was 93. Nellie was born on Dec. 22, 1917, in Vienna, Md., daughter of the late John and Grace (Sellers) Bennett. In 1936, she moved from Cambridge, Md., to Dover, where she worked for Fishers Dept. Store, Dover Laundry and Playtex. Nellie loved working outside in her flowers and garden. Her home was a showcase of flowers from early spring through the fall. She also hosted the Bennett Family reunion in June at her home for over 25 years. Nellie was a member of the United Methodist Women of the Cheswold United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, James Rash Craig in 1987; sisters, Lula Wallace, Grace Conner and Helen Bramble; brothers, Johnnie Bennett, Kendle Bennett, Earl Bennett, George Bennett, Ivy Bennett and Guy Bennett. Nellie is survived by her daughter, Katherine (Kitty) Holtz and son-in-law David Holtz; a sister, Marie Price; grandchildren, Cherie Bergold and her husband Chris, Craig Holtz and Brent Holtz and his wife Ruby; and great-grandchildren, Jessica Bergold and Tucker Holtz. Services will be noon, Saturday, July 18 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may gather beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Dale Pruett will officiate. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Red Cross, 100 West 10th St., Suite 501, Wilmington, DE 19801.
