DOVER - Nancy A. Brenton, of Dover, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012, at Kent General Hospital. She was 78. Mrs. Brenton was born Jan. 29, 1933, in Boston, Mass., to the late William Searle and Mary Donaghue Searle. She and her husband Kenneth moved to Dover due to his job at General Foods. Mrs. Brenton was a homemaker while her sons were younger and then went to work at Silver Lake Nursing Home and then at Kent General Hospital working in the social services department. After her retirement she volunteered at Kent General Hospital for the last 13 years. Mrs. Brenton enjoyed socializing with her close friends. She was a member of her local tea group. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth G. Brenton in 1998; brother, Richard Searle; and sister, Carol Clune. She is survived by her sons, David Brenton of Townsend, and Thomas Brenton and his wife Robin of Egg Harbor Twp, N.J.; brother, Robert Searle of Virginia; sisters, Norma Searle of Massachusetts, Marion Webb of North Carolina, Linda Fitzgibbon of Massachusetts, and Paula O'Brien of New Hampshire; grandchildren, Christine M. Brenton, Kenneth G. Brenton, II, Derek M. Brenton, and Madison M. Brenton. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday evening. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
