MSgt. Jack T. Boyd

DOVER -Jack T. Boyd died Mon., Sept. 2, 2013 at Seasons Hospice in Christiana Hospital. Born in Washington Court House, Ohio, he was the son of the late Eugene V. and Ruth Ellen Boyd. Jack had graduated from Ashland Kentucky High School where he played Foot Ball and Tennis. It was there where he developed a love for music as he was a violinist with the String Quartet. He had worked as an auto mechanic with the Standard Oil Co. and later joined the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1941 where he learned Air Craft Mechanics. His military career took him to many places including England, Texas and Maine, and it was in England in 1944 where he met his wife to be, Mary "Pat" Wright. In 1948 they married in the United States. Jack was a Veteran of WW-II, Korea and Vietnam, retiring at Dover Air Force Base in 1969. For many years thereafter he and his wife would attend the WW-II 77th Squadron Reunions until they were discontinued. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sister, Meredith Boyd; and his wife, Mary "Pat" Boyd, in 1987. He is survived by his son and daughter in-law, Stephen and Veronica Boyd of Landenberg, Pa. Friends are invited to services on Fri., Sept. 6, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St. Dover, DE where a viewing will take place starting at 12 Noon. Interment with Full Military Honors will take place in Odd Fellows Cemetery on Rt. 10 in Camden, De. In lieu of flowers family suggest donations be made to the Dover Air Force Base Chapel Dover, DE 19902. Condolences may be made at www.ambruso.com.
