Miriam Lapham Thornton, 87 GREENSBORO, MD - Miriam Lapham Thornton, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Envoy of Denton in Denton, Md., which was originally The Wesleyan Center. Mirian was born June 6, 1923 in Goldsboro, Maryland, daughter of the late Edward W. and Mildred Seward Lapham Mrs. Thornton was raised on Castle Hall Farm in Goldsboro, MD, until she reached the age of 14 when her family moved into Goldsboro, MD. Mrs. Thornton graduated from Greensboro School in 1940. Mrs. Thornton resided in Greensboro after her marriage to Mr. Thornton on April 23, 1943. She was a loyal employee/retiree of the Caroline County Bank of Greensboro. She will be remembered as a great mother who was extremely proud and supportive of her children and family. She is survived by her husband, Robert Alan "Mike" Thornton, Sr. of 67 years, she is also survived by her son, Robert Alan "Bob" Thornton, Jr. & wife Carol of Denton, Md.; two daughters, Cindy L. Thornton of Greensboro, Md., & H. Suzanne Nickerson & husband "Buzzy" of Barclay, Md.; seven grandchildren, Kristy Hutson of Greensboro, Md., Holly Ranney of Atlanta, Ga., Erin Thornton of Denton, Md. , Blair Thornton of Nashville, Tenn., Tina Miller of Dover, Del., Melody Orick of Greenwood, Del., Chuck Nickerson of Barclay, Md.; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Geraldine Harman of Marydel, Del.. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 29, 2010 from 12 to 2 p.m. at New Life Wesleyan Church. Services will be held Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at 2:00 P.M., at New Life Wesleyan Church, Greensboro, MD.
