Mildred Elizabeth Knowles Lankford, 85
SEAFORD - Mildred Elizabeth Knowles Lankford, age 85, of Seaford, died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. Born in Blades, the daughter of the late Elva and Garfield Knowles, she was a cafeteria worker in the Seaford School District. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, the Acorn Club of Seaford, the Seaford Historical Society and the Ladies Auxiliary of Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her husband, James S. Lankford of Seaford; her daughter, Nancy Bennett of Seaford; two grandchildren, Keith Litchford of Dover, and Amy Litchford Baynum of Seaford; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Helene Merritt of Blades; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 28, in St John's United Methodist Church Pine and Poplar streets, Seaford, where friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the services. Reverend J. Christopher Pennington will officiate. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or to St. John's United Methodist Church, PO Box 299, Seaford, DE 19973. Arrangements by Watson-Yates Funeral Home, Seaford.
