For decades, Lockerbie bombing families wanted attackers to face US justice. They're still waiting
SUMMARY: Families who lost loved ones when a suitcase bomb detonated aboard Pan Am Flight 103 in 1988 had been preparing to attend the terrorism trial of the accused bombmaker. But a federal judge in Washington, D.C., on Monday postponed the case against Abu Agila Mohammad Mas’ud Kheir Al-Marimi, citing newly discovered evidence. The trial was expected to open Wednesday with jury selection. Al-Marimi is the third person charged in connection with the attack, but the first to be prosecuted on American soil. The attack on the New York-bound flight killed 270 people, a majority of them Americans. Eleven of the dead were on the ground in Lockerbie, Scotland.

Pennsylvania reports first 2 measles deaths in the US this year, both people unvaccinated
SUMMARY: Pennsylvania health officials report that two unvaccinated residents have died from measles. They are the first measles-related deaths in the U.S. this year, following three last year. The U.S. is experiencing its worst measles year since 1991, with 2,777 cases reported as of Thursday. In November, international health officials will assess if the U.S. and Mexico have lost their measles-free status. Vaccination rates have dropped below the 95% needed to prevent outbreaks, with exemptions rising to an all-time high among kindergartners. State officials aren't giving any more details about the two people, except that they lived in Lancaster County.

Women’s baseball league board member goes public with concerns about company's finances
SUMMARY: A member of the Women’s Pro Baseball League’s board of directors is asking a Delaware court to force the fledgling organization to release records she says could reveal misuse of company funds and undisclosed conflicts of interest. The WPBL launched August 1 hoping to become the most successful pro league for women’s baseball since the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League folded in 1954. The demand for books and records, filed in the Delaware Court of Chancery, could impact the league’s ability to bring in key partners, sponsors and investors.

KJ Duff turns down big-money suitors, stays at Rutgers as potential 1st-round NFL prospect
SUMMARY: KJ Duff decided to stay at Rutgers for his junior year after a breakout season where he caught 60 passes for 1,084 yards and seven touchdowns. The 6-foot-6 Duff has a chance to become one of the top five wide receivers in program history and a first-round pick in next year's NFL draft if he decides to declare for it. With Duff and running back Antwan Raymond returning this fall, the Scarlet Knights should have a productive offense in the Big Ten after a 5-7 season a year ago.

Jets waive Cade York in a close kicking competition, giving the job to Jason Sanders
SUMMARY: The New York Jets have waived kicker Cade York, who was competing with Jason Sanders for the position. York was signed in March as a potential replacement for Nick Folk, who joined Atlanta. Sanders was claimed off waivers from the Giants in June. On Monday, Sanders missed three of five field-goal attempts in practice, while York missed two of five. Sanders has been more consistent in preseason games, making all of his field goals and extra points. York was a fourth-round pick by Cleveland in 2022 and has struggled with consistency. Sanders, an All-Pro in 2020, missed last season with a hip injury.
