The Pennsylvania budget quietly relaxed a standard for lead reporting in schools
SUMMARY: Pennsylvania lawmakers have changed the rules for reporting lead in school drinking water. Schools are not required to test for lead as long as the topic is discussed at a public meeting. Previously, any lead detection had to be reported, but now only levels above five parts per billion need to be reported. This change came after school associations argued the previous requirements were unrealistic. Environmental groups criticize the move, saying it keeps parents uninformed about potential lead exposure. Critics also highlight flaws in the original law, such as the lack of mandatory testing and accountability for reporting elevated lead levels.

Ravens cut Heisman Trophy runner-up Diego Pavia on eve of rookie camp
SUMMARY: The Baltimore Ravens waived quarterback Diego Pavia, just before rookies report to training camp. Pavia, who was the Heisman Trophy runner-up last season at Vanderbilt, signed as an undrafted free agent in April. He had hoped to compete for the third quarterback spot behind Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley. Skylar Thompson and Joe Fagnano will now vie for that position. Pavia led Vanderbilt to a 10-win season, passing for 3,539 yards and 29 touchdowns. However, scouts questioned whether his 5-foot-10 stature could translate to NFL success. Veteran center Ethan Pocic takes Pavia's place on the roster.
